BUSINESS SERVICES MANAGER
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of business services experiences in Senior / manager positions
- Solid experiences in dealing with clients directly by managing a portfolio of clients. Experiences with a heavy focus in SME & HNW space would be ideal.
- Strong technical and tax background
- Well-presented individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experiences in running the business services accountant team (min 3 people) including setting/reviewing annual budget, managing compliance programme, team expectation and process/procedure etc
- CA qualified preferred / or CPA qualified
Primary Function
This role will primarily involve accounting and taxation advisory, ensuring compliance with complex regulatory obligations for a range of SME clients.
Reporting directly to the Directors, you will be responsible for a team of Accountants ranging from Graduate to Intermediate and Senior.
The role includes client services, assisting in the managing of workflow, reviewing work and training and mentoring members of the Business Services Team. Your extensive accounting and taxation experience will ensure the highest level of quality control of compliance work prepared by the Team.
Your role will also involve identifying areas in the workflow that require improved efficiency through the implementation of relevant policies and procedures.
You will develop client relationships over time and a smooth transition to Directorship will involve targeted networking opportunities with a goal to establishing your own portfolio of new clients.
You are CA/CPA qualified with 12-15 years of experience in Business Services.
Managing Workflow
- Assist Directors/Client Services Manager (CSM) in the allocation of jobs to Accountants and setting and monitoring weekly job targets
- Manage the workflow to achieve compliance lodgement target.
- Set and monitor of time budgets against fixed fee agreements to drive down time on work-in-progress and maximise the profit margin on each job by increasing the Teams’ Average Hourly Rate.
- Ensure workflow is moving quickly and efficiently.
Training & Mentoring
- Lead and direct a team of Accountants and train and develop the team.
- Be the first point of contact for all team member queries and training and mentoring issues.
- Ensure all team members are actively involved and aware of the latest developments in taxation and accounting regulations through the facilitation / implementation of training sessions and or seminars.
- Continuously advise team members of tools and procedures to be utilised based on current laws for the correct treatment for both taxation and accounting purposes.
Quality Control & Workflow Efficiency
Ensure quality control where jobs are completed efficiently and at the highest standard with structured workpapers and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting policies and taxation law through the thorough reviewing, monitoring and training of team members.
Client Relationships
Develop and nurture strong client relationships with both new and existing clients by ensuring a prompt and friendly service in excess of client expectations.
With the Directors, advise clients on complex accounting and taxation matters and assist in developing innovative solutions and strategies for the client.
Networking / Centre of influence
When possible attend Networking functions such as “Business Chamber of Commerce” and seek target markets with the goal of growing a portfolio of new clients over time.
